Quick Takes
What We’re Watching This Month
Data Governance: Why Master Data Is the Missing Link in Your AI Strategy: AI initiatives are moving fast, but many organizations are overlooking the foundation required to make them successful. AI models are only as reliable as the data feeding them, and inconsistent master data creates risk at scale. Companies investing in data governance, data clean-up, and data standardization are putting themselves in a much stronger position to generate long-term value from AI.
Change Management: The Adoption Gap Nobody Talks About: The biggest reason enterprise initiatives fail is lack of adoption. Go-live is only the beginning. Organizations that treat change management, leadership alignment, and operational accountability as core workstreams, not afterthoughts, are the ones that realize the full value of their investment.
Procurement Leaders Want AI, But Need Governance First: More procurement leaders are exploring AI across sourcing, vendor management, and operational decision-making. Early pilot programs are producing meaningful efficiency gains, but scaling those efforts is proving more difficult. AI experimentation allows an organization to better understand AI and build a use case. However, long term AI success requires an enterprise strategy in order to establish strong governance, process alignment, and organizational readiness.

How Cruise Built a Foundation for Commercial Scale with Oracle Cloud
Innovation moves fast. Operations need to keep up.
That was the challenge facing Cruise, General Motors' autonomous vehicle subsidiary, as it prepared to transition from research and development into large-scale commercialization. While the company was making major strides in autonomous mobility, disconnected systems and manual processes were creating roadblocks behind the scenes. Teams were spending valuable time navigating multiple platforms, managing inconsistent data, and working around processes that were not built for the next phase of growth.
To help create a stronger operational foundation, Cruise partnered with R-Cubed Consulting to implement Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP, Oracle Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Oracle Master Data Management (MDM). The project replaced legacy applications including Fishbowl and Coupa and introduced a modern, connected platform that could support the company's commercialization goals.
The engagement included enterprise application implementation, process optimization, master data management, automated testing, GM EDI simulation, and the creation of a centralized data architecture. With real-time visibility across operations and stronger system controls, Cruise gained the ability to make faster decisions and operate with greater confidence.
The results were immediate. Core business processes became more efficient, outdated systems were retired, and data was unified across the organization. Teams no longer had to work around disconnected tools and could focus on execution instead of administration. The new Oracle platform provided the scalability needed to support growth while creating a foundation for long-term operational excellence.
Today, Cruise is positioned to move from innovation to execution with greater speed and efficiency. By modernizing its ERP, supply chain, and data management capabilities, the company now has the systems and processes needed to support commercialization at scale and continue leading the future of autonomous mobility.
R-Perspective
AI North Star Workshop
At R-Cubed, we see this constantly with our clients. Teams are already experimenting with prompts, testing automation, and using AI tools to influence operational decisions. Most of it is happening without a clear strategy or governance model in place. The issue is not that employees are using AI. The issue is that leadership often lacks a coordinated plan for how AI should be used, where it creates the most value, and what guardrails need to exist around it.
That’s why R-Cubed partnered with Clustr to launch the AI North Star Discovery Workshop, a complimentary 3-4 hour executive working session designed to help leadership teams define a practical and actionable AI direction for the business.
Built around your unique business environment, this session focuses on your organizational structure, operational priorities, and real-world use cases. We work together to identify where AI can create meaningful value and support measurable business outcomes.
The workshop is structured around three key areas:
Current State Assessment: We evaluate how AI is already being used across teams and identify organizational, data, and workflow constraints that could impact adoption.
Direction and Alignment: Surface strategic priorities, functional alignment, and leadership-level constraints.
North Star Definition: A complete picture and a clear recommended path forward.
By the end of the session, leadership teams walk away with a clear set of deliverables, including an AI assessment results, a 16-24 month prioritized roadmap, an AI governance blueprint and a people enablement blueprint.
R-Cubed brings decades of enterprise transformation and master data expertise. Clustr brings hands-on experience deploying AI solutions in operational environments. Together, the focus is simple: helping organizations make AI practical, scalable, and executable inside complex businesses.
The session is complimentary, but the clarity it provides can shape decisions for years to come. If your leadership team does not yet have a shared and documented AI strategy, this is where the conversation should begin.
